Community Participation Funding - Dept. of Sport and Recreation (WA)
This scheme funds initiatives that target low participation groups, particularly culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) and indigenous populations. Grant applications must be for projects that target either ‘Participation’ or ‘People Development’ outcomes:

  • Participation – How will your project increase the physical activity levels of CaLD/ indigenous and under resourced populations who currently have low participation rates?
  • People Development – How will your project improve the skills of the volunteers or staff of your organisation or community group that is targeting CaLD/ indigenous and under resourced groups?

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to sport and recreation community organisations/clubs (who are not currently receiving Organisational Sustainability Program Funding), other community and not-for-profit organisations and regional Local Governments who are encouraged to apply. Please note: Unfortunately, schools and metropolitan local governments are ineligible for this funding scheme. Treasurer calls for Community's ideas ahead of 2011/12 May Budget
Wayne Swan has made his traditional call for ideas from the community ahead of his 2011/12 May budget. For his 2010/11 budget, the treasurer received around 200 submissions from a broad range of individuals and groups.

"These provided a real insight into the challenges faced across our nation, and opportunities for the government to improve the well-being of all Australians," Mr Swan said.  "Community views are a central consideration to the government in framing its policies, which is why I encourage people to have their say by submitting ideas."

Interested parties should lodge their submission by 28 January 2011.

He said submissions should be mindful of the government's strong commitment to offsetting new spending with savings, maintaining the discipline that will return the budget to surplus in 2012/13.
